Mercury is the first planet from the sun. It could easily be mistaken for the hottest planet in the solar system,
but the planet Venus actually holds that title (see Venus for more information).
Earth's moon is about the same size as Mercury, and has many craters and rolling hills. Mercury also has virtually
no atmosphere and its surface is speckled with many craters, similar to the Earth's moon. Mercury, through a telescope, appears
as an orange hue, sometimes modifying into a dark shade. The climate on Mercury is extremely hot because of the close distance
to the Sun (see Sun for more information). There are no clouds or specific weather on Mercury because there is barely an atmosphere
and no air.
Here's an amazing fact! Mercury speeds around the Sun at 107,000 mph (miles per hour), making its year only 88 days
long!
